Details itinerary- Morocco walking holiday

Day 1: Marrakech Arrival – Pick up – night in a Riad

Welcome to Marrakech Menara Airport by our guide, and drive to your Riad/hotel

Optional activities before your Morocco walking holiday: Marrakech guided tour, cycling tour in the city, Hammam experience

Overnight at a Riad in the Medina of Marrakech.

Day 2: Ouzoud waterfalls –  Ait Bouguemez Valley

Departure at 8H from Marrakech city, which gives access to the beautiful nature along the way. Stop to explore Ouzoud waterfalls and hike for 2 hours enjoying these amazing falls. 

Afternoon we will enjoy the beautiful scenery that characterizes the central High Atlas to the Happy Valley. Welcome to Berber life with a mint tea and a free walk through the valley and fields of Ait Bougmez. Night lodging at the inhabitant. 6-hour drive.

Day 3: Marrakech – Azilal – Agouti – Ikkis n’Arous

Departure at 8h in the morning from Marrakech to Azilal (170km)  from which we continue on a mountain road to Agouti. There, in the valley of Ait Bouguemez (or ‘Happy Valley’), we meet our team of muleteers. After loading the mules, we start our hike to Ikkis N Arous (2300m), our campsite. Approximately 3 hours walk.

Day 4: Ikkis N’Arous -Tizi n’Tarkedite – Tarkedite plateau

We will walk up to the pass of Tizi n’Tarkedite 3450m. Here we can see the summit of Mount M’goun (4068m) for the first time. With a long descent, we continue to our camp on the large plateau of Tarkedite (2900m). Approximately 6 hours walk.

Day 5: Ascent of Mount M’goun (4068m) – Oulilimt

We wake up early in the morning to enjoy dawn while our muleteer and the others take a shorter path to the bivouac. After climbing the summit of Mount M’goun with the limestone landscape covered in shells and fossils, we can enjoy the panoramic views, especially on the south side of the Massif. A spectacular descent will bring us to the river that will take us to our campsite, close to the spring of Oulilimt (2600m). Approximately 7 hours walk.

Day 6: Trekking from Oulilimt to Aflafal

To relax today, we will take a shorter trek. In this way, we can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the gorges of Oulilimt. Then, the river will lead us to our camp at the riverside, near the spring of Aflafal (2100m). Approximately 4h30 walk.

Day 7: Aflafal – Valley Ouzighimt – Imin IRKT

This day consists of the descent into the Ouzighimt valley, a beautiful valley with a population of women who are always in full swing at work in the fields, collecting wood for fire … our walk will be all along the river, which binds several villages. Lunch will be at the edge of Taghraft. Then we will continue our journey to the town Imi N’IRKT. 5h30 Walk. 500m descent. Night in tents.

Day 8: Imi IRKT – Tiranimine

In today’s step, we cross several rivers. We will be in the water which is often pleasantly cold and refreshing in the summer. Take a break for hot tea and lunch near the source of Ifasfas. The camp will be at the village Tighanimine. 5 hours walking. 500m descent. Night Bivouac tents.

Day 9: Tighanimine – Boutaghrar 

This day begins with a walk through fields of crops: fruit trees ( fig, walnut, and apple ) before reaching Boutarghrar valley. Our lunch will be provided near the village of Tamgalouna. 5h30 walk. 400m descent. Overnight in a tent.

Day 10: Transfer to Marrakech

Our Morocco walking holiday technically ends today. After breakfast at your lodge, we will drive through Rose Valley to Ait Ben Haddou, where we will stop to explore the Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. Then, we will cross the Atlas Mountains to return to Marrakech.

Overnight in a Riad.
